Discovering Novi Sad: A Journey Through Time

On March 10, we took our students for a walk through the historical city center. Starting from the Hungarian and Jewish heritage sites along Futoška Street and continuing toward the heart of the city—often referred to as the “Serbian Athens”—our students had the opportunity to explore a variety of architectural styles, including Neo-Renaissance, Gothic Revival, Art Nouveau, Secession, and Eclecticism.

While walking through Liberty Square and Zmaj Jovina Street, they learned about the city’s dynamic history, from its early modern development in the mid-18th-century Habsburg Empire to the present day. Along the way, they also discovered interesting and lesser-known stories about some of the city’s notable citizens and everyday life in Novi Sad.
